Bob, Sorry, I am a bit confused. Will give a bit more background. I am involved in a volunteer run cinema. We have a full digital cinema set-up and show films from DCPs. We also run other events such as a bring your own film night (like a open mic night).

For this people bring a variety of file types (lots H.264, prores and other quicktime flavours). I was looking for something for playout for this type of event and came across 'Axel You Play'. We are using a Blackmagic Mini Monitor card to connect to the projector via SDI. The problem is it seem to be sending the audio to the card also (cant find a way of routing it to the sound card). I think it must be sending it to the cards HDMI output. Was thinking of trying to get a box to extract the audio from the HDMI. So was trying to find someone who understands the software and how it is used.

The piece of software you linked to may be great but is way above our merger budget (whitch we kind of spent on the card). But we manage by insisting that they get ProRes files. Which in almost any NLE are easy to export.

People export them for sound ref anyway. But, in my experience, finding a player which can play all of the formats you mention out through SDI is probably not possible. If you do find such a player, then let me know. About the sound, as suggested, you need to consider de-embedding it from the SDI or HDMI. Picture off SDI/HDMI and sound off the sound card may introduce sync issues particularly on longer sequences. As an aside, consider using FCP 7 as a 'playback engine'.

Neil, Bit harsh for non apple users, exporting prores on windows is beyond most people. I would suggest you also support Avid DNxHD (free download for apple and windows). Ultimately we will probably de-embed from SDI but this seems VERY expensive. As an interim solution we may de-embed from HDMI.
