Strangely enough I'm the opposite in that I prefer to play things that I don't identify as. I'm a male who prefers to play as a female/non-human so when they get horribly killed I'm not so invested and picturing myself in their situation. I'm quite happy to play a female human or a male elf/dwarf/giant/talking pony. However I just don't like the games like Deus Ex Machina where I have to play a male especially one that gets injured/cybered up against their will because I could picture that happening to me in that world.

So where you want to play a female character so you can picture yourself as a woman kicking ass I want to play one so when the cannibals beat her into the ground and eat her face I can go well that wasn't me, new character. • • • • • • •. TLDR; Devs will add it in the future, the character system is (overly) complicated. I prefer playing as a woman too and was also disappointed.

(And no, I'm not an SJW -- I just love character customization. I've been following scum on youtube for some time. I'd take a game with custom characters over just a static female lead any day. I was just excited for SCUM's extremely in depth character system.) More detail, it is probably more effort to do female characters in scum compared to other games, the characters have realistic metabolism based on weight and body type and such.

Because of dynamic things like weight/ muscle gain and all of the inventory / clothing that must match up / possibly be remodeled, I think they will need more work than typical games to finish integrating female characters to the level of detail of the existing male characters. They probably wanted to get something out for early access. But, they planned on having women for some time now. Does make me curious.because of the game's hyper-realism, how they will handle women.

Seems like it could a landmine to make things like metabolism accurate, because it might make the game unbalanced. But, making it balanced might upset others. I'm interested to see what they do but mostly just glad that they will include women models.
