Vienna Symphonic Library Crackle
Jan 25, 2018 - After a lot of time tweaking I'm getting pops and crackles on my template now. I am certain my machine. VSTi: Vienna Symphonic Library. System without crackles, pops or even crashes. Conversely, a tiny. Pro was finally able to do this not only with VSL's own instruments, but with almost every.
After 7 hours of guesswork (including reading the manual, doing all the tutorials), I've finally got my new VI Instruments to show up in Logic Pro - nothing in the manual or tutorials seemed to lead me there. I'm getting sound about 50% of the time, usually with a lot of crackling.
It appears that with just a violin matrix in one track (optimized), a cello matrix in another track (optimized), and the Logic Pro Yamaha Piano in three other tracks, that I'm blowing out the 2 gig of RAM. Is this possible?
The VI plug-in manager shows 350MB free. Before I bought VSL I read on this forum that someone was doing much more than that on a MacBook Pro with the same configuration (1.86gHZ, 2 gig SDD2 Dram), or I wouldn't have moved ahead. I can't afford three computers to run 10-15 tracks - right now it appears I can't run five tracks with only three separate instruments on one computer. I am gonna take a shot at this. It is possible that the USB drive might not be up to task of streaming the samples fast enough. You have a Macbook pro, try a firewire 800 drive.
You didn't say what kind of audio interface you have. I'm guessing here, but if you can move the samples to a firewire drive, the crackles may stop.
A 1024 buffer size shouldn't be necessary. If you suspect high memory usage, look to see how much memory is being used with the activity monitor. I'm installing some Vienna Vis next week, I will let you know how it goes. I am using the Vienna instruments on a very similar system, and I have had some problems, but nothing like what you described.
I can load at least four or five virtual instruments, and have little to no problems. Are you using an external harddrive, or the built-in one? Because I have heard that the the built-in one can be a problem for some reason. I also had more problems using a USB connection for my external hardrive than firewire 800, which is what I switched to. Sorry I can't be more helpful, but I am pretty new to the whole set-up. Hi, problems in VSL paradise? First off, null the yammy.
Then try the same config. If you don't have a second drive, FW, unfortunately, get one. This is where all your sample libs should live. A third FW drive should be used for recording/rendering.
The EW stuff is appropriate if you like your lib wet, wet, wet. It, like most of these 'high end' libs, is over-rated and certainly, over priced. You'll be freezing a lot no matter what you use, get used to it. VSL quest for the absolute pinnical in orch libs is admirable, if a little lofty. These are only samples, after all.
Good luck, and make friends with your freeze button. Best, david r. I've got two external drives - one 500Gig, and one 250gig. VI Instruments one one, projects on the other. So that's apparently not the problem. I also have my buffer at 1024. Sorry, but I'm not privy to what a yammy is that should be nulled.
Can you put this in newbie-speak? I'm okay with freezing up here and there. That's a lot different than not being able to do anything because the crackling starts in the first few seconds, and then the audio is completely shut down within 10 seconds. The only way to get it back is to shut down Logic Pro to free the buffer.
I can't work for 3-5 seconds and spend 2 minutes rebooting each time. Any other thoughts? I'd love to get this solved. I hate the thought of going to East/West and using drippy movie samples, but being able to actually create a drippy track is a far site better than not being able to create anything.
Help, still?? I am gonna take a shot at this. It is possible that the USB drive might not be up to task of streaming the samples fast enough. You have a Macbook pro, try a firewire 800 drive. You didn't say what kind of audio interface you have.

Hello_ You want to stay away from USB Drives if you can. Your best bet is to get a Sata card for your Express slot and use an E-sata drive for your samples. Use at least 7200RPM drives 10,000 RPM is better. Firewire is good for your audio drive. Serial key idm.
Just use the built in drive for Logic and the system itself. This should help. I have the VSL library and am very happy with it but I'm using it on a dual 1.8 G5 with 4GB ram. I haven't had any problems at all and I can get about 14 instruments at the same time without freezing or converting to audio. Good Luck, RealDave_. Marty & RealDave, It was somebody else in the string that is using USB - I'm on a firewire connection to a 7200 RPM, 8MB cache Western Digital external drive.
